Arctic Monkeys - Do I Wanna Know - Date release ( June 19th - 2013)
I selected this video as i have liked this song for a very long time and i love the transitions in this video. They way they make everything look so smooth like its all done with one animation is amazing. Secondly i love the beat to the song and i think it would make a very smart music video selection.
- I like this music video and it has inspired me because i really like the way the sound waves turn into a human throughout the track and i think this is a very clever way to show things as the song is about a human but the song is made with sound waves.
- The way the sound waves go with the beat i think it is very clever. And this would inspire me to use these such things in my music video say a clip of some sound waves going with the beat.
This shot herer inspires me because of the way it transitions so the original shot where the smoke cloud comes from is a women smoking a cigarette and then it transitions from the smoke cloud to cars racing
This is a video about social concerns as the music video is about how he comes crawling back to the same girl even though she treats him terribly.
I would design my music video for this specific song in black and white. I am also going to shoot this video in black and white. I would do this because i think it would suit the song very well. By this i mean that the song is about going back to someone who doesn't care about him and the black and white theme of this song would add a bit of mystery and make the audience curios about why he keeps doing this.
Live action elements. I would mostly use live action shots. These shots Would be a man on his journey to see his girlfriend but it would be in reverse. What i mean by this is that he would be walking back from his trip so as the music video talks about crawling back to you the clip will be revered again he we will start walking back to his girlfriend so it goes from him walking away and when he says crawling back to you he turns around and walks to his girls house.
Special effects. I would have quite a few special effects in my video just to make it a bit more interesting making the video hook the audience in more. Some examples of special effects i would use is the black and white filter. The blur tool (however i could recreate this using unfocused shots )
I would try to add a little bit of animation to due with soundwaves just as respect to the genius that is the original video
I think at the beginning of the video i want to have a video of a girl kicking whoever the actor is out the house and having mother come out and tell me to go almost a bit of a comedy sketch.
And at the end you have whoever the actor is coming back to the house and getting told to go again.
The emotions that this music video evokes in the audience is a feeling of empathy but also a feeling of curiosity. The empathy vibe comes from the song itself because of the fact that the song is about rejection and keeping trying. But as well as this the curiosity comes from the video because of the animations you never know when the soundwave will turn into another person or a car or a knife
The Meaning of the song is about alex the lead singer and a girl he is scared to open up to so throughout the song he drops hints about their relationship “ your in deep “ suggesting he likes her a lot more than he thought he did
And through the song we find out that he eventually goes in for a kiss and the final note leaves the ball in her court and it's her decision from there on and i think the meaning is going for a girl no matter what or how scared you are
I think the director wanted to send a message to the audience to just never give up and to keep trying however in this situation it is a girl but i think it could be anything. I also think he wanted the audience to be confused a little because in my opinion the lyrics are a little confusing.

Music Video Analysis Worksheet
Band/Artist Childish Gambino Song Sober
Date Released: 10th January 2015
Why did you select this particular music video?
As a collective we enjoyed the idea of a freestyle dance type music video located within an office. The idea of the office setting is an interesting choice as it is often associated as quiet work space and is not often associated as being loud and lively which the music video will be.
List three concepts or ideas in the music video that have inspired you in an artistic fashion and through the images presented
- The idea of an office setting was unique as it contrasted to the idea of a fun dancing environment we wanted to create.
- The song fit very well with the concept and as a group we were interested in how it could turn out after production.
- The whole freestyle dances would be fun to film and could turn out to be a fun music video.

Physical qualities of the Music Video: How would you design the Music video based on the chosen song? Consider:
- Music
The music with in the video would be sober as the lyrics of the song fit with the concept of the music video, lyrics like ‘now I’m so high’ fit with so idea of a day dream freestyle dance within an office block as well the song has this elevator music vibe to it which helps contribute to this work space theme.
- Live action elements
The entirety of the music video will be comprised of live action elements, before the freestyle dance and after there will be this work office vibe using lack of dialogue and music to create a boring slow office vibe which will contrast to the over the top freestyle dance. After the music video, there will be an outro were everything goes back to normal as if nothing had happened.
- Narration/voice Over:
There will be no Narration or voice over within the video.
- Background noise/Special effects
There will not be any kind of special effects used as we want to keep the music video relatively realistic however in post-production there will be background effects added such as phone calls, pencils and typing to create a work space environment.
- Animation
- There will be no animation within the video.
- Color/Black and white
Within the start of the video we will want to create a boring vibe so the music video will be relatively boring and drab and when the music kicks in there will be color correction and effects added to alter the color to make it more vibrant so that it comes across as more fun within the party segment.
- Other
The majority of the dancing will be freestyled as it will to help to create this kind of fun atmosphere that everyone could be a part of however there will be choreographed elements within the video that will be in sync just to switch it up.
What is the mood or tone of the Music Video? What emotions does it evoke in its viewers?
There will be two moods within the video the first being a more exciting, fun and happy vibe with bright colors and freestyled dance, this segment is supposed to have a positive element to it so it is supposed to bring out positive emotions within its audience especially if they see people like them in the music videos that everyone can do. The other segment is supposed to bring out the opposite emotions showing a boring workspace with bland colors will bring out negative connotations within people.
What is the central message(s) of the Music Video? Be specific.
One central messages within the video is the idea of enjoying life within the moment and finding the best out of a bad situation this is demonstrated by the fact the characters are within a drab, quiet, boring workspace and turn that into a freestyle dance part.
What audience response do you think the Band/Artist/Director wants from the Music Video?
The intention of this video is just to create a positive atmosphere with an atmosphere that is often associated as being dull and boring through finding the best out of a situation.
Legal & Ethical issues
In terms of photo shoot, this might be in terms of misrepresentation, copyright, royalties
LEGAL
In terms of legal issues, these tends to be about who owns the rights to something, or whether you are slandering (saying something about someone that is not true), or sometimes it can be a legal issue of making sure your content is not breaking the law (as in there is no suffering to animals depicted)
ETHICAL
Ethics are more of a minefield and there are certain ethical considerations that we have in the west that are important to understand. Ethics is about what society views as right.
Such as – is there a balance between male/female genders
If there are, are these stereotypical roles (eg powerful and strong male, weak female often dressed provocatively)
Is there swearing, are there weapons?
Southpark is controversial because a lot of people disapprove of its ethics. However, the producers might argue that it is for a small cult audience who are adult enough to know what is right and what is wrong.
What are the legal and ethical issues of your production and can you justify them?
